Happy Holidays!!! I wanted to show you our Christmas tree that almost wasn’t going to happen. You see it’s a bit of a long story, so I will try to give you the short version. For those of you who know me really well, you know that Christmas is my FAVORITE holiday. I go all out with the decor, food, and cheer. I mean sometimes I believe I become this whole other person who people actually like more. Let’s hope this isn’t so true.
Lately, being the kind of person I am during this holiday has been more pronounced. Like I said, here’s the short story….We live in Florida but spend almost every holiday in Texas. We own our home in Florida, and you can only imagine how hard it may be to decorate knowing you won’t be spending half of December in your own home. It does take lots of money and everything you want to do is captioned by “limits.” With saying all of that, we do decorate my parent’s home a bit, but it is not the same as it would be decorating your own home. All in all, I always go at it with a positive attitude to say the least. This year our goal was to have four trees up, 3 – artificial; 1 – real. We bought one of our artificial trees at Big Lots for $72 pre-lit. We thought is was a good deal because it did come with lights, and an urn at the bottom for added decor. It is also a space saver and can be put in a corner of a room without all the bulk. This is the girl’s tree and they are in charge of decorating this one each year. I thought it would be a good idea as it helps get them into the holiday spirit and gives them practice too. That way when they get their own place one day, they can know how to go about decorating their own space without getting overwhelmed.
As for our real tree, I am so excited to tell you about! We found our tree at Wal-Mart for $36!!! It is a Fraser Fir and 8′ tall. We had to do a lot of trimming and that sort of thing but that wasn’t a big deal. I love the smell of our tree, especially, when we first walk into our home. WOW!!
This is a daytime shot with my iphone so please excuse the resolution. I wasn’t planning on blogging about this tree wonder but then I started to think “why not?” Most of my photos were taken with my iphone 5.
You have to keep in mind that there are no presents under the tree because we celebrate our Christmas holiday in Texas. We purchase everything in Texas. Yes, it does feel a bit of a last minute thing, but we know what we are buying and love the rush feeling we get! What can I say, it is so exciting. To be honest with you, I don’t think it would be the same if one day we didn’t have to do this anymore. I know it sounds a bit complicated, but as it stands now, this is how we do it. It works out just fine, the tree at my parent’s house looks beautiful with presents nicely wrapped underneath.
I used the ornaments I bought last year with the exception of a few here and there. They are so pretty! Some are this beautiful turquoise color, and some are bronze with gold accents. Love them all. The whole plan is to add new ornaments each year until we have a wide variety of ornaments to flood the tree’s decor. Yes, I’ve always loved a tree filled with all kinds of different ornaments that ultimately tell a pretty humorous story. Gotta love that!
These dangling ornaments are my absolute favorite hanging ornaments EVER. They reflect the light beautifully, and look so elegant against the green and red color scheme. AMAZBALLS!!!
Last but not least, I had some white mesh ribbon left from last year that I used here in the picture shown above. I basically formed a HUGE bow by gathering the mesh in large loops and then tied a pipe cleaner wire in the center to secure. Please check out my DiY Christmas Wreath tutorial video for more insight. Overall, it gives the tree plenty of drama and class that I can get enough of. Love, love, love…it!
