Getting to know myself – I’m a pretty cool gal

Lately, I have been all over the board as to my likes and dislikes in life.  As I am a pretty casual, down to earth type of woman, I thought this post would put it all in perspective.  Has there ever been a time in your life where you are trying to figure yourself out?  Call it, “getting to know yourself” or maybe trying to make changes in your life for the better?  That is where I’m at in my life.  The new year has begun and in my mind it’s time for some changes.  Before I can do that, I have to find out  a little more about me.

About a few weeks ago, I tried my first macaron in all sorts of flavors.  lavender, rose, vanilla, peach, and so many more.  I have to say that my favorite was the rose.  It tasted just like roses, well, I’ve never put rose petals in my mouth.  It’s just one of those things you just know that is what it would taste like – just like the scent of roses.  I actually stumbled into my new favorite confection.  If you are ever in the Fort Myers, Florida area I highly recommend visiting Le Macaron.  The people are so welcoming and you’ll love the atmosphere too.  You gotta try the rose flavored.  Jasmine says to try the lavender.  Why not try both?!?

macaroonI have been all about comfort, but I still want to look presentable.  Who doesn’t?  I have turned to wanna be Uggs in black and J. Crew Pixie Pants.  Who am I?  I have fallen off the workout train, so maybe the extra added pounds have swayed me in this direction.  Has this happened to you?  Like ever?  Don’t worry I’m back on the workout train.

J. Crew Pixie Pant, $98 here.  Here are some similar ones here that are budget friendly and very comfy too.

Kamar Suede Shearling Boot (wanna be UGGS), $35 in black.  They are so comfy yet versatile.  Yes, my feet get hot but I’ve gotten use to it and it doesn’t bother me.  Did I mention they’re comfortable?

During the summer when I was working out all the time, I designated Saturday & Sunday my cheat days.  One of my favorite foods to eat were truffle fries from this local place called Mad Fresh.  You can check them out here, just don’t ask for Ketchup.  Really, don’t do it- or Diet Coke for that matter.

On to handbags, 2014 was the year I found a new love for bags.  I also like to call it a purse.  Do you ever call it a purse?

PURSE: noun – North American – a small bag used especially by a woman to carry everyday personal items.

My favorite brand of handbags would have to be Kate Spade.  She reminds me of Audrey Hepburn with here classic style and voluptuous lips.  Have you just stopped and admired her beauty?  Well, that’s what I do when I stop in a Kate Spade store.  The one I want to purchase next, is called Cobble Hill Small Devin, $298.  I think it will be great for travel, as I do start to travel more in the spring and summer months.  The bag comes in three colors, but I am eyeing the Off Shore color.  You can check it out here.  A similar one is here for $40.

Another thing I noticed about myself while cleaning out my makeup drawers the other day.  I am a nude-pink lipstick kind of girl.  I never really categorized myself as a nudy pinky type of person.  Apparently, I am.  You can find out a lot about a person just by their drawers.  Shown here: MAC Bombshell, $16; Maybelline Color Sensational Buffs Colors in Stormy Sahara, $6MAC Plumful, $16; Rimmel Long Lasting Lipstick #03, $8; Maybelline Moisture Extreme in Pinky Beige, $5.
While decorating my home, I like going by my own rules and not taking it too serious.  When it comes to displaying pictures on the wall – I wish I could meet the person who came up with this idea.  I think it is a brilliant way to display all of your favorite photos in nice frames.  In my home, you will find a few gallery walls, but the only difference is the variety of frames.  In my opinion, it gives more character when the frames are all different.  04f6989b602d2bf49d90bdde4277d46e
The hairstyle that I found to be drawn to the most was this one below.  I just love it when hair looks so not perfect and has  lots of dimension.  This makes a hairstyle fun, and worth looking at.  If you have good hair & eyebrows – it really doesn’t matter what walks of life you come from.  You definitely bring lots to the table.  If you are ever in Fort Myers, I highly recommend two color specialists: 1.) Laurel at Salon Bleu, here; 2.) Raquel at Douglas Brooke Studio Salon, here.  They are both amazing and specialize in color.  They also cut hair, but I love the fact that they really know what they are doing in the color dept.  If you’re anything like me, it takes a pretty interesting person to keep me entertained for a few hours.  You get your dose with these two talented ladies.
They always say, “keep your dreams in front of you.”  Right?  Well, let’s just say that this closet pictured below sits on my bed side table.  It is my dream to have my very own beautifully, organized closet.  In my near future that it.  I don’t know how much longer I can wait.  Wink…wink…nudge…nudge….I hope Todd reads this post.  Isn’t she gorgeous?  Yep, I found her on Pinterest.
I hope you’ve enjoyed my favorite things!  I will be posting similar posts like this one every Friday.  I feel it will give us all inspiration, motivation, and something to look forward to.  What do you think?  What are some of your favorite things?? Please share.  If you would like to share on Instagram or Twitter use this hashtage #ninamarieblogsfavorites that way I can see them.
