After the new year came and went in a flash I have to say, “I changed some things in my beauty routine.” One routine that is important to me is my night time routine. As I sat down at my desk some day in January, I started thinking how much my routine changes all throughout the year. One person asked, and this question is so valid, “how do you know what works for your skin if you keep changing it?” Such a great question, and this is how I know why – it stayed in my head for about three months or so. Ok wait just a second, I don’t think a guy ever stayed on my brain for that long let alone a fashion trend. When the new year quickly approached, while everyone was thinking of a new diet, exercise routines, and possibly which handbag they were going to save up for this year – I was thinking of my night time routine. You’re probably asking, what does this include exactly? This is the time at night where you unplug from the world – possibly the family too, and you do your own thing. In my case, I set something up that goes a little like this….
After dinner, I watch a show or two with Todd, because the girls are at the age where they rather spend time in their room doing their own thing. I don’t mind, rather I try to understand the importance of finding what it is you love in life. If that calls for spending some time in you room doing nothing or creating a whole new world via Sims, or building your fashion portfolio by making doll clothes with pieces of left over fabric – I believe they are learning a lot. What do you think?
Once the shows are all finished, by this time Todd is literally passed out on the couch – bless his heart he works so hard. I take advantage of this time, I draw myself a bath and throw in some bath salts, bath bomb, essential oils, and if I have them – rose petals. I also light a few candles, and just drown the day’s sorrows and my calluses away. I know you are waiting for me to say something like, “Calgon take me away.” I’m not but I will say, “Daintyfemme take me away.” Have you tried my bath bombs yet? They are the bomb – no pun intended. You can check them out here.
My bath usually takes about 15-20 minutes, and then I move towards my skin care and body. As for my hair, I apply a conditioning treatment at my ends only, and then let it air dry. Your skin should always be first priority, after all, its what everyone sees first. I start off with Boscia Purifying Cleansing Gel, $26. This cleanser is great from all skin types and won’t strip your skin from its natural oils. A massage to the skin makes for a more youthful and radiant appearance – to achieve this I am currently using the Foreo, $139. This little gadget is amazing as it cleanses your pores with channels T-Sonic pulsations through soft silicone touch-points for deep and gentle cleansing. It enhances the absorption of skincare products and delivers visibly brighter, more radiant skin. For the overnight remedy, I mix or combine PUR Get A Lift Firming Facial Cream, $39 with 2 drops of Algenist Advanced Anti-Aging Repairing Oil, $79. This is a match made in Sephora. By morning, your skin will look so radiant, plump, and your makeup will apply so much prettier. The eyes don’t get left behind, I also play a duo here. I first apply La Roche-Posay Redermic C Anti-Age Moisturizing Filler, $35 (very high potency of Vit C – great for keeping the under eye area tight & bright). When that absorbs in which takes about 2 minutes, I go in with Benefit It’s Potent Eye Cream, $34. To assure my lips are nice and juicy by morning I apply my favorite lip treatment Christian Dior Crème De Rose Smoothing Plumping Lip Balm, $28. My pillow cases would thank me every morning if they were human, because they are left fragranced in roses. That’s because I apply The Body Shop Body Butter in Atlas Mountain Rose, $20. If you are a rose scent lover – this is the perfect balance of floral scents. Not too strong, not too florally, not too weak, just perfect. Let’s put scent aside for a second, it moisturizes the skin so nicely and lasts all through the night. I think that is what we’re shooting for here. My bedside table is where my ultimate treat awaits me – milk’s favorite cookie, Oreo Original, $3. I allow myself this every other night as it plays a reminder that I made it through the day in one piece. Such a yummy thing to look forward to.
